These gorgeous and elaborately carved Bloodwood pieces are Onetribe's take on the Aztec deity Quetzalcoatl. It is said that Quetzalcoatl (pronounced ket-sahl-ko-what-al) was a serpent-bird deity, one of the most important beings in Aztec (and many other Mesoamerican people's) religion, associated with the planet Venus as well as the morning star and is sometimes referenced as the giver of maize (corn) to mankind.

A Quetzal is a sacred brightly colored Mesoamerican bird, and 'coatl' means serpent. We have carved our interpretations of this bird-serpent deity into an intricately conceived hanging style that features the feathers of a bird with the head/face of a snake, complete with fangs.

These pieces are thinner in the smaller sizes and become thicker and bulkier in the larger sizes so that they scale up proportionately. Do note that Bloodwood varies in tone from copper to deep red. Length is approximately 2-2 1/2."
